This church once had a section for cloistered nuns, who commissioned a fantastic cycle of frescoes on each wall up to the ceiling. This cycle of frescoes dates to the 16th century, with works by various Lombard painters, above all Bernardino Luini, and his sons Aurelio and Giovan Pietro. The visit continues behind the enclosed partition, where there are a wooden choir and a beautiful restored organ. The quality of the painting in many of the frescoes and the bright colors makes the visit very worthwhile.
