The guided tour of Bergamo’s treasures is a day trip to discover one of the most beautiful cities in Northern Italy. From the Venetian walls of the 16th century, included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2017, to the traces of the Roman past incorporated between the medieval walls and towers that stand out, even if less numerous than before, against the sky.
Then we will visit the main churches, starting from the Cathedral of Bergamo with an almost thousand-year history to reach the Romanesque Santa Maria Maggiore that shines in the Baroque interior, facing each other together with the Colleoni Chapel, a true jewel of the Lombard Renaissance, around the ancient Piazza del Duomo.
Glancing through the portico of the Palazzo della Ragione, we will see the most recent Piazza Vecchia, with its elegant and Renaissance flavor, the Corsarola, which crosses the city from east to west in a swarm of shops and tourists and leads us to the funicular, fast link that brings us back to modernity. Finally we will visit the Rocca, now a pleasant public park full of greenery, which offers the most beautiful view of the city, the plain and the surrounding hills.
During the day we will have the opportunity to visit the splendid Carrara Academy, recently redesigned and reopened to the public, whose collection boasts, among others, masterpieces by Pisanello, Bellini, Botticelli, Mantegna, Raphael, Canaletto, Boccioni, de Chirico and Kandinsky and then enjoy at the end of a day full of history, art and beauty, a magnificent sunset.
