The House of Alessandro Manzoni in Milan is one of those places where time seems to stand still: it seems that we can still breathe the romantic air in which the great novelist lived and the warm and lively atmosphere of Manzoni’s illustrious guests, more and more numerous after the success of “I Promessi Sposi”, but even the most difficult personal moments are still perceived, from the death of his wife to that of his daughter.
Visiting the House of Manzoni is not only an intact slice of 19th century life, it is a silent entering into the life of one of the greatest Italian writers of all time: we will retrace his studies, his literary, poetic and theatrical successes, his uncertainties , his failures, his bizarre nevrosifino to reach the incident in the churchyard of San Fedele that will soon lead to his death and burial in the Monumental Cemetery of Milan.
Following the great restoration that took place on the occasion of Expo 2015, the Casa di Alessandro Manzoni in Milan reopens to the public restored and enhanced, allowing visitors to discover, accompanied by the words of the great writer, one of the most fascinating and modern literary personalities in Italy .
The visit will end in Piazza San Fedele, where there is the church dear to the writer, which is celebrated in the monumental commemorative statue that portrays him.
